Lower tax assessment after moving house

Are you going to move house? Or is your living situation going to change? Usually, your water authority tax assessment will not change this year. In some cases, you may have already received a lower assessment. Take a look at all situations below.

A water authority tax assessment is almost always made up of 2 amounts:

  • Water system charge
  • Water treatment charge

How much you pay depends on your situation on 1 January. This amount is the same for the rest of the year, even if you move house. We calculate the water treatment charge based on 1 or 3 units of pollution. However, this amount may change during the year.

Choose your situation

First select if you are moving from the Regional Public Water Authority Amstel, Gooi en Vecht to a different water authority. You can find a handy map of all water authorities on waterschappen.nl (You are leaving this website).

I am moving to a different water authority

  • The amount of the water system charge will remain the same as this year.
  • From 1 January of the following year, your water system charge will be calculated again for your new home. You will then receive an assessment from your new water authority. This means you will never have to pay the water system charge twice.
  • We are lowering your water treatment charge. You will only pay for the period when you lived in our area.
  • Your new water authority will send you a water authority tax assessment. It only lists the water treatment charge for the rest of this year.
