Saving water in the garden
Use rainwater instead of tap water. Opt for smart plants and spray in a smart way. This is how you care for your garden with less water.
-
Collect rainwater using a rain barrel
A rain barrel is a smart way to collect rainwater. You can reuse this water for your garden. Not only will you save tap water this way, but it is also good for your plants. After all, they prefer rainwater to tap water. -
Choose the right kind of plants
Choose plants that can withstand dry conditions. Not all plants need the same amount of water. Plants such as lavender, sedum or grasses use less water and look just as good! -
Spray smart
Spray your plants in the early morning or late in the evening, when the sun is not shining so brightly. Otherwise, much of the water will evaporate. -
Water plants less often
You can also train your plants to hold water better. Watering them less often will make their roots stronger. So give them a lot of water once a week, instead of a little bit 7 times a week. -
Use a watering can
Use a watering can with rainwater instead of a sprinkler hose. You save a lot of water this way. After all, 15 minutes of running a water sprinkler quickly consumes 100 litres of tap water. Such a waste!
